DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, OUR 2020 RACE IS CANCELED

We have been officially notified by the City of Allentown that the St. Patrick’s Parade and our West End St. Patrick’s 5k race have been cancelled. Here is their announcement.

 

Though we have been working diligently on other options for siting and staging the race, it was becoming clearer by the hour that it was going to be extremely unlikely. Now we know for sure.

 

Certainly, it’s disappointing for all of us. However, we’re all aware of the situation that we’re facing as a region, nation and world. There will be a time for racing. Unfortunately, it’s not now.

 

Although we do not offer refunds, my co-race director, Will Velekei, and I will be meeting over the weekend to evaluate a number of options moving forward. Our consideration will include:

  • Your pre-ordered merchandise
  • Cooperation with other local races later this year
  • Potential discounts on our 2021 race
  • Sponsor expectations
  • Other potential options, some of which you’ve suggested to me via e-mails this week. (Thank you!)

 

Please give us until early next week to determine what are options are and how we want to move forward. There are lots of things to consider and many details for each. Like everything we do, we want to do it right.

 

Thank you for your patience and understand. Moreover, we want to thank you for your ongoing support of our race. Many of you come back year after year. For that, we are grateful.
